Weapons recovered in four districts of Manipur

A total of 211 houses were searched, 281 persons paraded, and weapons recovered during search operations in four districts of Manipur.

Imphal: Combined security forces of the central and state police launched search and cordon operations in 211 houses and paraded 281 persons for verifications at different villages in four districts.

The operations carried out during the past 24 hours at different suspected hideouts of the anti-socials led to the recovery of arms and ammunition, the police said on Friday.

The police in coordination with the 5 Sikh Regiment and CRPF F-129 Battalion jointly conducted search operations at Laika Mualsau, Nabil, and Phunchong in Churachandpur district from 8 am to 11.30 am on Thursday. 

Altogether, 13 houses were searched, and 20 people were verified in the operations that resulted with the recovery of pumpi and one improvised (pumpi) bomb, the police reports said.

Similarly, another combined team of state police, CRPF D/71, Kumaon Regiment, and 19 Gharwal Regiment carried out operation at Kwakta ward no 4 and 5 in Bishnupur district from 6 am to 8 am.

During the operation, 80 houses were searched and 180 people were verified.

The police and BSF A-Coy 126 battalion also launched operations at Moirangthem Leikai in Kakching district from 6.40 am to 7.40 am.

A total of 47 houses were searched and 81 persons verified.

Meanwhile, cordon and search campaigns were also carried out in 70 houses at Uchathol village of Jiribm district under the supervision of Jiribam district senior Superintendent of Police M Pradip.

However, there was no arrest in the search operations.
