Imphal: Two persons were killed and seven security forces — six state forces and one CRPF personnel sustained injuries in different incidents in Manipur during the past 24 hours, the police said.

The body of one Md Khurphal @ Abuza, 32, a resident of Khabeisoi Mamang Leikai in Imphal East district was found killed at an Ashilou paddy field in the same district at around 8 am on Wednesday.

Police picked up the dead body of the youth and deposited it at the JNIMS hospital morgue for post-mortem.

The motive behind the killing is under investigation, the police said.

One Ritishkumar Magar, 36, was found dead with a piece of cloth wrapped tightly around his neck in a rented room at Namdailong under Lamphel police station in Imphal West district on Tuesday.

There were scratch marks on the face, hands, and chest on the body of Ritishkumar Magar.

He was a resident of Kanglatongbi village in Kangpokpi district.

Police deposited the body of the deceased at the RIMS hospital morgue for inquest and the cause of the killing is under progress.

Six state forces including a Havildar, and a driver of an escort party of the MLA Thongam Shanti were found injured in a road accident that occurred in the Keinou area, under the jurisdiction of Bishnupur police station in Bishnupur district on Tuesday, around 8:30 pm.

They were rushed to the Raj Medicity Hospital, Imphal.

The condition of one of them is stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, Samit Sarkar, a personnel of the 136 CRPF Batallion got bullet injuries on his left belly when he tried to commit suicide with his service weapon at Kanglatongbi Shantipur village of Kangpokpi district at around 8 am on Wednesday.

He is now in critical condition at the RIMS hospital, the police said.
