Tripura Police apprehend one with cannabis worth Rs. 8 lakh
Agartala: One individual was apprehended by Tripura Police in Rampada Village, situated within the Sonamura Sub-division of Tripura’s Sepahijala District, on Wednesday, for possession of cannabis worth Rs. 8 lakh.
Debasish Saha, the officer-in-charge of Melaghar Police Station, informed reporters that they had acted on a tip-off regarding the storage of a significant quantity of cannabis in a local residence.
“Acting on confidential information about a substantial stash of cannabis, a joint operation involving Tripura Police personnel and CRPF was conducted at the residence of Chaitra Mohan Debbarma in Rampada Village. Following the raid, we confiscated 240 kg of cannabis concealed in drums and buried it underground. Chaitra Mohan Debbarma was also detained, and a case has been filed against him. The approximate value of the seized contraband is estimated to be around Rs. 8 lakh,” the officer stated.
