Agartala: Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday criticized the Trinamool Congress, stating that the party from West Bengal is setting a negative precedent for the entire nation with its involvement in various criminal activities, including crimes against women, job losses, political terrorism, and corruption.

He emphasized that in a democratic setup, the populace holds the ultimate power. He asserted that when people become aware, those anti-democratic elements relying on muscle power and money to cling to power will inevitably lose their grip.

Transport Minister Chowdhury made these remarks while campaigning at Guniyara and Raibandh Gram Panchayats within West Bengal's Bankura Lok Sabha constituency on Monday.

Minister Sushant Chowdhury singled out former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, highlighting that crores of rupees were seized from his residence two years ago, which has since been revealed to be linked to a job scam worth 25,500 rupees.

“Now he is behind bars. Another example is Anubrata Roy. Two cabinet members are presently incarcerated for similar scams,” the minister noted.

Referring to Tripura, he pointed out that the state was under CPIM rule for 25 years, leading to widespread disillusionment among the populace.

“People believed there would be no change in government. However, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, there has been a change in Tripura’s governance. The Bharatiya Janata Party government will also be established in West Bengal in the near future and will strive for overall development,” he affirmed.

The Minister further appealed for public support for the BJP candidate Subhash Sarkar, nominated for this seat, expressing confidence in the victory of the BJP's chosen candidate.
