Guwahati: Owning to a shortage of fuel in the state due to the disruption of goods train movement, the Tripura government has imposed restrictions on the sale of petrol and diesel from Wednesday.

According to reports, the stocks of fuel have come down significantly in Tripura due to the disruption of goods train movement.

Here it should be noted that since April 26 goods train movement in the state has been hit due to a massive landslide in Assam’s Jatinga.

Passenger train movement started on April 26 after restoration work. However, the train service through Jatinga still remains closed during the night.

“In view of the supply constraint of petrol and diesel due to disruption in goods train movement to the state, it has been decided to impose restriction on the sale of fuel – petrol and diesel in the state from May 1 until further order”, said additional secretary of food and civil supplies department, Nirmal Adhikari.

Two-wheelers will now get Rs 200 petrol per day whereas the limit for four-wheelers is Rs 500 worth of petrol.

In the case of buses, 60 litres of diesel is permitted per day whereas for mini buses the limit is 40 litres and for three-wheelers, it is 15 litres.

Restoration work from the Railways is still going on and the officials are hopeful that things will become normal in the next couple of days.
