Tripura CM holds meeting with BSF to tackle border infiltration
Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has directed the BSF and Tripura Police to take stringent actions against individuals aiding illegal border crossings.
During a meeting with key stakeholders, including Chief Secretary J K Sinha, ADG Law and Order Anurag, S K Sinha, DIG PSO of BSF, and other officials, the recent surge in infiltration activities at the Indo-Bangladesh border was discussed.
A BSF source informed that the Chief Minister expressed grave concern over the increased infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals into Indian territory. Dr. Saha emphasized the need for appropriate actions against those facilitating illegal border crossings.
S K Sinha, DIG BSF, highlighted the reduced manpower on the border due to the general parliamentary elections and the deployment of BSF troops in Manipur. He noted that collaborative efforts among various agencies could effectively curb infiltration incidents. Identifying and taking action against touts is seen as a crucial step in reducing these incidents.
The BSF is in the process of installing electronic surveillance gadgets at vulnerable patches along the border. Several other issues related to border security were also discussed during the meeting.
