Imphal: A strong Manipur contingent on Friday embarked on the exhilarating journey for the third Northeast Games, 2024 slated to start on March 18, 2024, in three venues in Nagaland.

Addressing the Blessing Ceremony of State Contingent for the Games at CM Secretariat, Chief Minister N Biren Singh told the  officials and players, “Let the spirit of sportsmanship guide your actions, and let the camaraderie among competitors strengthen the bonds of friendship across the Northeast.”

Manipur comprises 319 strong contingent —163 males (players) and 113 females (players) while 38 males and five females as coaches and managers.

As a part of the programme, the CM handed over the Manipur Olympic Games flag to Moirangthem Ratan Singh Chef-de-Mission.

Chef-de-Mission said that the players, coaches and managers will travel in a phased manner on March 16 and 17.

While Athletics will be held in IG Stadium, Kohima, the remaining disciplines will be held in NAPTC Niathu Resort in Chumukedima, Tetso College, Archery Complex, Futsal B, Multiple Purpose Hall, Shooting Complex of Sovima and Kuda Village.

Manipur will be competing in all fifteen disciplines — Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Football, Pencak Silat, Sepak Takraw, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball, Belt Wrestling, Freestyle Wrestling and Wushu.

The games conclude on March 23.
