Sophisticated weapons recovered in three districts of Manipur
Imphal: A mixed contingent of the Manipur police and Assam Rifles recovered sophisticated weapons and warlike stores after launching search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts in the past 24 hours, an official statement said on Wednesday.
During the operation the following items were recovered from the Churachandpur district: one 9 mm pistol with the magazine, one .303 rifle with the magazine, one improvised 5.56 mm rifle with the magazine, one 12-bore gun, one improvised mortar (Pumpi), Anti riots ammunition, two tear smoke shells, one tear gas grenade, two carts (38 mm), two 9 mm CMG magazine, and one pair of jungle boots.
Acting on specific intelligence of the movement of weapons between the inter-districts of Thoubal and Pallel, Assam Rifles established a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) at Bijoypur, Pallel on Wednesday.
At around 3 pm, the MVCP intercepted a white I20 and on thorough searching recovered one Pistol, one smoke grenade, and other war-like stores.
The recovered items were later handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal actions, the statement added.
