Guwahati: Sikkim’s longest and highest cable car has come up in the Himalayan state’s Namchi district and has recently become operational.
The Bhaleydhunga Ropeway offers breathtaking views of the region’s picturesque landscapes and the Mt Kanchenjunga.
It stretches 3.5 kilometres and ascends from 1,800 metres to 3,500 metres above sea level.
Namchi serves as a major tourist destination of Sikkim and the new ropeway is likely to attract more tourists to the region during the upcoming festive season.
The ropeway with 18 cabins has a capacity of eight passengers each.
It offers a scenic journey from Dhapper to the Bhaleydhunga summit.
With a top speed of six metres per second, the ropeway ensures adventure for the tourists looking to experience the region’s beauty and panoramic views along the way.
The ropeway is currently operating between 8 am and 3 pm, and a ride in the cable car is priced at Rs 950 per person.
Namchi - situated at an altitude of 5,500 feet above sea level - is at a distance of 78 kilometres from the state’s capital Gangtok.
