Seized drugs destroyed in Manipur’s Bishnupur district
Imphal: Under the directive of the commissioner of customs (preventive), Shillong (Meghalaya), the Customs (Preventive) Division, Imphal disposed of confiscated drugs worth lakhs of rupees at a brick field at Nachou Panthong village of Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Monday, officials said on Tuesday.
The destruction of the seized drugs including Amphetamine/Methamphetamine, heroin powder, and Ganja was carried out in a pyre in the presence of the chairman and members of a high-level committee formed by the Customs Commissionerate.
According to a statement of the Customs Division, Imphal, the seized drugs were disposed off in connection with International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and keeping in tune to achieve ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat.’
According to the statement, as per the directive of the commissioner of customs (preventive), Shillong the destroyed drugs included 18.69 kg of Amphetamine / Methamphetamine, 3.19 kg of Heroin, and 3016 kg of Ganja.
