Protests staged against armed miscreants in Manipur

Imphal: Sit-in protests against the armed miscreants targeting killing a non-local and shooting at a hotel were organized at different places in this sensitive border state on Sunday.

The Kakching Lamkhai Welfare Board on Sunday staged a sit-in protest against the firing of a gunshot at PS Hotel located at Kakching Lamkhai under the Kakching police station at around 7.30 pm on Saturday.

Unidentified armed persons fired a gunshot at the hotel owned by one Pukhrambam Shamphal (56) son of late P Bhoro’t of Kakching Turel Wangma DSA Road.

Though no one got injured, the protesters wanted to clarify the reason and the identity behind the attack.

Regarding the attack on the workers of the Keystone Infra Private Limited, a joint team of the Uripok Apunba Lup, (a joint coordinating body of Uripok), Imphal staged a sit-in protest at Naoremthong, Imphal protesting against the killing of a worker of the KIPL and injuring to others.

Dhruba Meitei, the secretary of the LUP demanded early clarification in connection with the attacks on the workers and also appealed to the armed men not to repeat such dastardly acts in the future.
