Agartala: Nabendu Bhattacharya, spokesperson for the ruling BJP in Tripura, asserted that opposition parties, including CPIM and Congress, are unlikely to garner more than 1 lakh votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state.

Bhattacharya highlighted that Congress has opted to allow the Left Front to contest from the East Tripura seat, indicating a perceived lack of cohesion within the opposition.

Expressing uncertainty regarding an alliance among opposition parties in Tripura, Bhattacharya emphasized Congress's decision not to field candidates in the East Tripura seat.

He underscored a perceived decline in support for opposition parties, suggesting that the electorate’s preferences are shifting towards parties aligned with national interests.

Furthermore, Bhattacharya reiterated the BJP's commitment to holistic societal development beyond electoral politics. He criticized Tripura’s Congress leadership, alleging their inability to unify the party effectively.

Regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Bhattacharya accused opposition leaders of spreading misinformation and fearmongering without fully understanding the law's nuances.

He urged them to scrutinize the legislation thoroughly before attempting to mislead the public.

Conclusively, Bhattacharya reaffirmed that opposition parties would not dictate the BJP's internal affairs or personnel decisions, signalling the BJP's autonomy in organizational matters.
