One CDF cadre from Myanmar held with ammunition in Mizoram
Aizawl: Personnel of Assam Rifles have apprehended a cadre of Myanmar’s Chinland Defence Force (CDF) with ammunition and war-like stores during an operation at Tuipang village in south Mizoram’s Siaha district near the Myanmar border, Assam Rifles said in a statement on Monday.
On receiving specific information, the Assam Rifles set up a mobile vehicle check post and launched an operation at Tuipang road junction on Saturday, the statement said.
During the operation, one person riding a Burmese-origin Kenbo bike was arrested, it said.
On thorough checking of the person, 170 rounds of 12 Gauge Shotgun Carts, fourteen Baofeng radio sets, some tactical gear and fourteen radio set chargers along with a Kenbo were recovered.
Initial investigation revealed that the apprehended person belonged to a cadre of CDF and was tasked with transportation of the stores across the Indo-Myanmar border, the statement said.
The accused, ammunition and other war-like stores were handed over to Tuipang police the same day, it said.
