Northeast teams among the goals on day-1 of junior boys Subroto Cup
Guwahati: Schools from the Northeast scored goals in plenty to start day-one of the ‘63rd Subroto Cup Junior Boys International Football Tournament’ played across various venues of New Delhi and the National Capital region (NCR).
Assam’s Numaligarh Higher Secondary School started off the high-scoring day with a 6-1 victory against Arunachal Pradesh’s Sainik School in the opening match of the tournament.
Meghalaya’s Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School scored 23 goals past Daman & Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli’s St. Francis Xavier High School for the highest victory of the day.
As many as 110 goals were scored on the day in the total 16 matches played at the Ambedkar Stadium, Tejas Football Ground, G.D Goenka World School ground and KIIT Global School ground.

In spite of the goal fest, the match between New Delhi’s Mamta Modern School and Tripura Sports School ended in a goalless draw.
Mizoram’s RMSA High School scored 11 goals while Manipur’s T.G English School netted seven goals.
In the other high scoring matches, Uttarakhand’s Amenity Public School won 15-0 against Gorakhpur’s Air Force School while Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan beat Jharkhand’s Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya 11-1.
Day-two will also see 16 matches being played at all four venues in Delhi and the NCR.
