Nagaland: Seized narcotics worth Rs 36.57 crore disposed in Kohima

Kohima: The Nagaland Drug Disposal Committee for state-level police stations destroyed seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances worth over Rs 36.57 crore at the Meriema dumping site on Saturday.
Superintendent of Police (Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances) and committee member Poolicharla Ramanaiah said the destruction covered 24 cases of seized contraband, including eight kg of heroin, 31 kg of opium, 370 kg of ganja and other psychotropic substances such as Ramadol and nitrogen-based materials.
He said the disposal was carried out after verification of court orders and completion of procedural formalities, including physical inspection and logistical arrangements as per prescribed guidelines.
The destruction was conducted in the presence of DIG (CID) and chairman of the committee T Chumrenthung, SP (Crime) Mhalo Ezung, and other officials.
