Dimapur: Nagaland Governor La Ganesan on Monday congratulated social worker and educationist from Nagaland Sano Vamuzo on being conferred the prestigious Padma Shri Award.

“This award is a recognition of your exemplary contributions and unwavering commitment to public service,” Ganesan said in a congratulatory message to Vamuzo.

He said her achievement has brought great pride to the state and the people of Nagaland.

Ganesan said he was truly delighted to celebrate this momentous occasion with her and her loved ones.

He hoped that this recognition would spur her on to continue her valuable work and achieve even greater heights

Vamuzo was conferred the award by President Droupadi Murmu during the Civil Investiture Ceremony II at Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 9 for her exceptional and distinguished service in the field of social work, and for spearheading peace campaigns and championing women’s representation.

Vamuzo, through a statement released by her family, expressed her deep concerns for the unresolved political conflicts and social issues that continue to plague the Naga society and its serious effects on successive generations. However, she expressed hope that through God’s wisdom and the initiatives of leaders at all levels and spheres, all these issues can be resolved.
