Nagaland beat Arunachal by innings and 290 runs in Ranji Trophy opener
Guwahati: In a remarkable display of cricket, Nagaland clinched a resounding victory over Arunachal Pradesh by an innings and 290 runs to begin their Ranji Trophy 2024-25 campaign on a winning note at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium at Sovima in Chumoukedima district.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Nagaland declared their innings at 509/5.
While Jonathan Rongsen notched up an incredible knock of 225 runs off 240 deliveries, Dega Nischal scored 149 runs in 231 balls and Hem Bahadur Chetri remained unbeaten on 58.
Amit Singh of Arunachal Pradesh claimed 1 wicket giving away 42 runs in 14.2 overs.
In reply, Arunachal Pradesh was dismissed for a paltry 75 runs in the first innings.

Nabam Dol scored 19 runs in 70 balls making him the top scorer for his team.
While Jagadeesha Suchith claimed 5 wickets for 34 runs in 19.2 overs, Imliwati Lemtur picked up 3 wickets for just 12 runs in 8 overs.
Arunachal Pradesh was bowled out for 144 runs in their second innings.
Jagadeesha Suchith struck again claiming 4 wickets for 34 runs in 18 overs, while Dib Borah made a sensational debut picking 4 wickets.
Jonathan Rongsen was named player of the match for his all-round performance.
The home side will face Manipur in their next match on October 18 at the same venue.
