MoS CS Pemmasani meets IDPs, assesses situation in Manipur
Imphal: Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Union Minister of State (MoS) for Rural Development and Communications on Thursday assured to convey to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah his assessment of the situation in Manipur.
The Union minister interacted with several internally displaced persons at various relief camps in two districts — Kakching and Imphal East.
On Thursday, the Union Minister attended a function as chief guest at Kanglasang community hall, Imphal East district.
The interactive program was organized by a women's outfit, Ita Women Multi-purposed Cooperation Society Limited, Imphal East.
He said that the ongoing conflict rendered the people in the manner of turmoil and unrest for the past 14 months in this violence-hit state.
On Wednesday, Dr. Pemmasani arrived in the Kakching district.
The MoS in the presence of Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar, Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Anand (IAS), Sanjiv Ranjan, Chief Post Master General (CPMG) North East Circle, Shillong, and other officials inaugurated the Kakching Post Office building with staff quarters at Kakching Phoushupat Leikai.
The Ministerial team also visited the DC Office Complex where he was accorded a warm welcome by the Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Anand, IAS, and the officials of the District Administration Kakching upon his arrival.
Dr. Pemmasani chaired a review meeting with the District Administration Kakching and the department concerned including Somorjit Salam (IAS), Special Secretary, RD & PR, regarding various ongoing developmental projects in the district at the DC Office Complex.
Later, the MoS along with the Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar and the District Administration team visited two relief camps namely Kha Manipur College and Langmeidong Higher Secondary School, Langmeidong.
At the Kha Manipur College, the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) presented Dr. Pemmasani with Kouna grass crafts product and interacted with the Union Minister.
The MoS also inspected the Kakching Hospital.
The team also inspected various projects under Mahatma Gandhi.
