The ration card holders in Mizoram are divided into three categories.

The beneficiaries of Antyodaya Anna Yojana and priority households are covered under the National Food Security Act.

Earlier, minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs B Lalchhanzova said the state government has decided to revise the existing ration cards system in order to drop subsidies to the white card holders.

He said the white card holders, whose yearly income in the urban areas is less than Rs four lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh in the rural areas, will be converted into a National Food Security Act beneficiary.
