Tura: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU) has lodged a complaint against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for the alleged improper implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in several villages of South Garo Hills, Meghalaya.

According to the GSU, many households in Siju Asakbanda, Siju Do’bakkol, Siju Mandal Gittok, Siju Bazar, and Siju Ariteka have not received water pipeline connections.

In some cases, taps have been installed without proper household connections, while solar pumps are non-functional in other villages.

The union further alleges that Siju Mandal Gittok has been completely excluded from the scheme.

Demanding immediate intervention, the GSU has urged strict action against those responsible for the lapses in the JJM implementation.
