Imphal: Leishemba Sanajaoba, the titular king of Manipur and also a Member of the Parliament of the state in the Rajya Sabha has been honoured by the WEBBIC University of the Republic of Ghana.

Leishemba Sanajaoba, the current member of the former royal family of the princely state of Manipur in India, and a politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Manipur was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree (HONORIS CAUSA) in Social Work.

In acknowledgement of his ongoing efforts to enhance community welfare and his dedication to serving the populace, this prestigious accolade was granted by the WEBBIC University of the Republic of Ghana.

The presentation ceremony organized by the Lata Foundation in collaboration with the Journalist Council of India (JCI) was held at the Constitution Club of India (CCI) in New Delhi, a release said here on Tuesday.

Notably, Sanajaoba Leishemba was previously honoured by the World Human Rights Protection Commission (WHRPC) with an Honorary Doctorate Degree (HONORISCAUSA) on October 23rd, 2021, in recognition of his global contributions to the advancement of social work.

Born on 1st March 1972, he was elected as a member of Rajya Sabha from Manipur in 2020.

The  WEBBIC University offers bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and also PhD degrees in different subjects.

It also offers an Honorary Doctorate to those people who have done some remarkable work for society. Honorary Doctorate is given based on achievements and it has no academic value.

An honorary Doctorate is given to appreciate a person for his work and achievements.

The Manipur Kingdom was an ancient kingdom at the India–Burma (Myanmar) frontier.

Historically, Manipur was an independent kingdom ruled by a Meitei dynasty. Manipur merged with the Indian Union in 1949.
