Manipur: UPPK cadre arrested, weapons recovered in Kangpokpi
Imphal: Manipur police launched operations at two different hotspots resulting in the arrest of one active cadre of the United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK), also known as People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-UPPK), and recovered a cache of arms, and ammunition on Wednesday, the police said on Thursday
In the first operation, one cadre of the UPPK later identified as Angomjambam Mendel, 27 was arrested.
Arrest was made in an operation at a hiding location from Imphal East District.
He was involved in extortion and monetary demand cases, the police said.
Search operations and area domination were also conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas at North Changoubung Village, Kangpokpi District.
During the search operations one Baofeng (walkie-talkie) along with a battery, one Baofeng Charger, one empty magazine of INSAS Rifle, one HE-36 hand grenade (defective), one 9mm Pistol with one empty magazine, and 22 live ammunitions were recovered.
The arrested person and recovered items have been handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal action.
