Manipur: Two grenades explode in Imphal, damages five vehicles
Imphal: Two bombs exploded causing damage to five vehicles parked inside the residential area of Mayengbam Leikai, Imphal under the Singjamei Police station in Imphal West district in the early hours on Saturday, the police said.
The CCTV camera installed on the roadside at the Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai on NH-102 captured that two masked men came out of a car parked on the roadside.
They lobbed one grenade each inside the residential gate of Chingtham Samson, 45, one of the Board of Directors of the Salai Holdings Private Limited Company.
The incident occurred at around 12:12 am on Sunday.
After throwing the grenades, they managed to escape from the scene in the same car they came.
The blasts caused damage to the windows, doors, and walls of the house.
Besides, it also caused extensive damage to five vehicles parked inside the residence.
However, there was no casualty in the blast being the late night.
A team from the Singjamei police station was called in.
The police registered a case in this regard and the motive behind the incident would be monetary demands.
Official reports stated that the company could not pay back the investors’ money as it could not function properly because its bank accounts and assets were being frozen by the state government.
No underground outfit or individual claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
