Manipur tribal body urges Centre to intervene to restore peace in state
Guwahati: Kuki Inpi Manipur, the apex body of Kuki tribes, on Sunday (September 1, 2024) condemned the recent alleged attempt to ambush its civilians along the Kanggui-Lamka road in the Kangchup region of the state’s Sadar Hills.
Terming it as a deliberate attempt, information and publicity secretary of the apex body, Janghaolun Haokip, in a press statement said the alleged ambush led to a heavy exchange of fire between two groups.
Haokip said such alleged assaults on the civilians continue unchecked and unabated. He said the alleged use of mortar bombs is more disturbing and the alleged attempted ambush is an attack on the community’s rights to exist peacefully.

Blaming the ‘who’s who’ of failing to control the ongoing violence, Haokip termed it as an alleged conspiracy to further the genocide.
The apex body urged the Central government to intervene and take immediate and decisive action against the alleged assaults and atrocities on its people.
Haokip, however, said the community will not be intimidated by these alleged acts of aggression, and stand strong in its resolve to protect its people and their rights.
He added the community will continue to resist and speak out until peace is restored in the state.
