Manipur: Seven miscreants attack civilians in Imphal, arrested

Imphal: Manipur police on Monday arrested seven miscreants involved in attacking civilians at Imphal’s main market centres — Paona Keithel and Thangal Keithel during the night in the last few days, a statement said on Tuesday.

Manipur police registered a case and an investigation was started after video footage of the incident of attacking civilians during the night went viral on social media.

During the investigation, Manipur police identified and apprehended seven individuals including five juveniles who were involved in such incidents from various places in Imphal West and Imphal East Districts.

Of these miscreants, two leaders have been identified as Khumukcham Brainny Singh (19) s/o Kh Bobo Singh of Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai, Imphal East, and RK Ronish Singh (22) s/o RK Ramesh of Keishampat in Imphal West.

Police registered a case and steps are being taken against them.

The case relating to the juvenile is being taken up as per children in conflict with law (CCL), the police added.
