Manipur: Security Forces recover weapons in Kangpokpi district
Imphal: A joint contingent of the central and state forces launched cordon and search operations in three villages in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, one of the hotbeds of ongoing ethnic violence during the past 24 hours, an official report said on Saturday.
The search operations achieved the recovery of several arms, ammo, explosives, and warlike stores of weapons supposedly used in the crimes, the report said.
In the operations carried out at the general area between Songjang village and Thonglang Akutpa village along the Imphal-Tamenglong road of Kangpokpi District, one 9 mm Pistol with Mag, one 7.65 mm Pistol with Mag, ten 9 mm ammunition, two .32 mm ammunition, three 9 mm empty case, and two .32 mm empty case was recovered.
The joint team of the Assam Rifles and state police also launched operations at the general areas of N. Changoubung village of the same district.
The team retrieved one carbine machine gun with a magazine, one INSAS Mag, eight 5.56 mm ammunition, one No.36 hand grenade, one 51 mm Mortar Illumination round, one Local Pumpi, two Local hand grenades, and one walkie-Talkie along with charger, the report added.
