The duo was allegedly involved in extortion from various business establishments in Imphal.

The arrests came after a complaint was received from an employee of an Imphal-based vehicle dealership stating that some unidentified miscreants had planted a bomb in their showroom.

These arrests were the first made by the newly-formed anti-extortion cell.

The anti-extortion cell, headed by the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), was formed on Saturday in order to curb the growing menace of extortion in the state.
