Manipur Police find IED in front of a shop in Ukhrul bazaar, defused
Imphal: A powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) discovered in front of a shop seemingly for monetary demand was detonated by the Manipur police Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad at the Ukhrul bazaar in Manipur’s Ukhrul district headquarters, the police said on Friday.
The remote-controlled IED was found placed in front of RR Store Grocery Shop at Wino Bazar under the Ukhrul police station.
The shop was run by one Ramsunder Thakur hailing from Bihar.
Upon getting the information, the state bomb experts rushed to the spot and found that the IED was fitted with an electric detonator, a 1-9 volt battery, one remote control circuit, 800 grams of explosive, and aluminium plates.
The IED that was detected at a public place on Wednesday night was disposed of successfully by the bomb disposal squad at Old Jail Jesami Road at around 3.40 pm on Thursday, the officials said here on Friday.
Meanwhile, many voluntary organizations including the Hunphun VA, All Hunphun Tangs Association, Hunphun Katamnao Long, and Wino Tang, Ukhrul district of Manipur have condemned the acts of the bomb threat to the business community.
Planting a bomb in a public place over monetary demand is an act of terrorism inflicting fear on the general people.
These CSOs appealed to the law enforcement agency to book the perpetrators and penalize them befittingly as per the law at the earliest.
