A joint operation by central security forces and the Manipur Police reportedly led to the arrest of three insurgent cadres from different banned underground groups across multiple locations in the valley district. However, a major underground outfit has denied the security forces’ claims as of Tuesday.

Police stated that Laikangbam Roshan Singh, also known as Lukhoi or Thoungamba (21), an active member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party – People’s War Group (KCP-PWG), was arrested from a hideout in Mayanglangjing Tamang under Lamsang Police Station, Imphal West district, on Monday.

In a related operation, Kangjam Abungcha Singh, also called Sanatomba or Abungo (40), an active cadre of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (Koireng) [UNLF-K], was also apprehended at a hideout in Mayanglangjing Taning, under the same police station in Imphal West.

In another phase of the operation, Moirangthem Ramesh Meitei, also known as Pari, Nanao, or Ladhu (32), a member of the banned People’s Liberation Army, the armed wing of the outlawed Revolutionary People’s Front (PLA/RPF), was arrested from Yairipok Bamon Leikai under Yairipok Police Station, Thoubal district. Police alleged that the PLA/RPF cadre was involved in extortion from government schools and colleges in Imphal East district.

Countering these accusations, the PLA/RPF, through a statement issued by its Assistant Secretary of Publicity, Bangkim, denied any association with Moirangthem Ramesh alias Pari/Nanao/Ladhu (32) of Yairipok Bamon Leikai, reportedly arrested by security forces on November 15, 2025. Meanwhile, no statements have been issued so far by UNLF-K or KCP-PWG regarding the reported arrests of their cadres.
