Manipur: LPG distributors stage protest in Imphal
Imphal: Distributors of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) operating in Manipur on Thursday staged a sit-in protest against monetary demands by miscreants and inadequate LPG supplies at the community hall of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai in Imphal West district.
The placards at the protest sites read, “Please don’t make unbearable demands on us,” “Stop blaming LPG distributors,” and “Stop all kinds of demands.”
The LPG Distributors operating in Imphal Valley organised the protest.
Okram Budhi, a proprietor of the LPG distributor, said that the distributors are facing unbearable demands from various anti-socials and miscreants in the aftermath of the ethnic violence in the state.
Besides, transportation of the LPG from outside the state has been facing multiple problems owing to the disturbances of the anti-socials and militants on the two NHs 37 and NH 102.
We are left with no option but to stop distribution of LPG if the situation persistently continues, he added.
Reports stated that under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), there are over two lakh LPG gas connections in Manipur as of 2023.
