Manipur: KCP-T cadre arrested in Thoubal

Imphal: Security forces arrested an active cadre of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party  (KCP-Taibanganba) and recovered one pistol, ten live ammunition, Rs. 3000, one mobile phone and a Mahindra Bolero car.

The Manipur Police Control Room in its morning report states that the person has been identified as Loitongbam Boyai Singh (43 years) from Thoubal and he was involved in extortion activities in the general area of Yairipok Nongpok Sekmai in Thoubal district.

It is further said that one pistol, ten live ammunition, Rs. 3000, one mobile phone, and a Mahindra Bolero were seized from his possession. The police registered a case in this regard.

The arrest and seizures have come closed on the heels of the Special Court of NIA, Imphal West has sent 13 persons suspected members of the KCP (People's War Group) to police custody for five more days till April 5 on Monday.

The police arrested them from two houses located at Loitang Sandam in Imphal West district on March 23, 2024. The KCP has different factions in the state.

They were produced before the court through video conferencing on Monday on completion of their police custody period.

The Investing Officer of the case stated that cadres of KCP (PWG) were engaging in prejudicial activities such as extortion, kidnapping, and training of the recruits on March 23.

They were arrested from two houses located at Loitang Sandam along with arms and ammunition in Imphal West district.
