Manipur: Hand grenade found at college entrance near Raj Bhavan

Guwahati: A hand grenade was found at the entrance gate of GP Women’s College in Imphal city of Manipur on Monday morning.

The college is located less than 100 metres from Raj Bhavan – the Governor’s residence.

The college is also located at a distance of 300 metres from the Chief Minister’s bungalow and the state police headquarters.

The incident created panic among the passersby.

The Manipur Police on being informed immediately rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.

The grenade was later removed by bomb disposal squad.

Monday’s incident comes amid reported extortion threats received by several educational institutions in Imphal Valley of Manipur.
