Imphal: The Manipur government on Monday disbursed Rs. 17 crore to 26,000 beneficiaries at Hapta Kangjeibung in Imphal organised by the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBOCWWB) under the Department of Skills, Labour, Employment and Entrepreneurship.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh distributed welfare benefits and handed cheques to select beneficiaries (next of Kin) of Accidental Death benefits and Natural Deaths.

“Today, around Rs. 17 crore distributed to labour card holders,” the Chief Minister said.

The CM further said that the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has also adopted the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan Dhan.

He said that the benefits would be distributed to around 26,000 and lauded the staff and employees of the Board for organising such an event.

The payment of funds to various labour and job card holders, financial recipients, students and pensioners etc. are being distributed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

With this process there will be a faster and simpler flow of funds with accurate identification and targeting of beneficiaries, making it much easier to avail of various government services by the masses, Singh added.

The event was also attended by Minister H. Dingo, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Maharajah Leishemba Sanajaoba, MLAs, Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, Chairman of MBOCWWB  K Sarat Singh, among others.
