Manipur: Four UNLF-K cadres arrested along with weapons
Imphal: Manipur police arrested four suspected cadres of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF-K) and recovered three SLR Rifles, seven mobile handsets, a Walkie talkie set, two cars, and cash.
According to a police report issued on Thursday, the arrests and seizures were made during multiple raids at the hotspots from the Inter-village road of Moirang Thoya to Tronglaobi village under the Moirang Police station in Bishnupur district on Wednesday.
The arrested cadres were later identified as Salam Rameshwor Singh (48), Tongbram Gyanjit Singh @ Chinglensana (39), Pukhrem Ingocha Singh (40) and Thokchom Temba @ Wakheiba (50).
Further from their possession, the following items 3 SLR Rifles with four empty magazines, twenty live rounds, seven Mobile Phones, one Baofeng Walkie Talkie Set and two cars, bags, a few amount of money & other items.
A case has been registered for further investigation, the report added.
In Manipur, there are two UNLF groups - UNLF (P) and UNLF (K).
The UNLF (P) is now under peace talks with the governments at the centre and state.
The UNLF-K is demanding the restoration of Manipur’s lost sovereignty. Manipur merged with the Indian Union in 1949.
