Manipur: Four smugglers arrested with narcotics worth Rs 4.9 crore

Imphal: The sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested four alleged smugglers along with 581.95 grams of heroin valued at around Rs 4.9 crore in the international illicit market. 

Ganreipou, Deputy Director of the DRI, Imphal regional unit in a press release states that in its continuing fight against the drug menace in the country, the DRI personnel seized 581.95 grams of heroin estimated to be valued approximately over Rs. 4.97 crore in the international illicit market.

Four persons have been arrested under the provisions of the NDPS Act 1985 for their involvement in the case.

Based on credible inputs, the DRI Imphal regional unit intercepted a suspected 120 Hyundai at Bishnupur bazaar, Bishnupur district on April 1, 2024 evening.

It recovered from their possession 50 soap cases containing the narcotic substances. The investigations so far revealed that the narcotics were smuggled into India from the Indo-Myanmar border.
