Manipur: Drunken brawl turns ugly, one dead in Ukhrul
Imphal: A 40-year-old man killed his friend in a drunken brawl in Manipur’s Ukhrul district on Thursday night, official sources said on Friday.
The tragic incident occurred over heated arguments at a local vendor shop located at Rihang village under the Chassad Police station of the Ukhrul district at around 10 pm on Thursday, according to the police report.
The two friends namely Sado Chodang, 43, and Raishonhao Chodang, 40, both residents of Tikaikok village under the same police station erupted into a heated exchange of words over the election situation in the state.
Out of fury, Raishonhao Chodang stabbed his friend Sado Chodang with a pointed weapon in the belly of the latter.
Sado succumbed to his injuries on the way to the nearby health centre.
Police said the accused was arrested after a few hours of the incident.
The weapon used in the crime has also been recovered. Police registered a case for legal proceedings, the sources added.
