Guwahati: On May 31, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur, was sworn in as the President of the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) during a ceremony conducted at the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Complex in Imphal. The oath-taking ceremony and reception were graced by board members, priests and devotees, who warmly welcomed the Chief Minister upon his arrival at the temple complex.

After taking charge, Singh addressed the assembly, stating that it is crucial to preserve the cultural heritage and traditions of the state for the sake of social advancement and development. He committed to supporting initiatives that aim to protect and promote the indigenous cultural practices of Manipur.

Emphasizing the importance of proper protocols in managing temple affairs, he mentioned that matters concerning the upkeep and enhancement of the temple complex could be deliberated and resolved through board meetings. In light of the current circumstances in the state, Singh conveyed his aspirations for peace and stability in Manipur, while also praying for the ongoing progress of the state.

During the event, representatives from the Kabui, Chothe and Maring communities honored the Chief Minister with traditional shawls. Additionally, he planted a sapling within the temple grounds as part of the ceremony.
