Manipur CM launches helicopter service from Imphal to Ukhrul.

Imphal: In a major boost of development in this hilly state, a new helicopter service from Imphal to Ukhrul and vice versa under the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, NE Division Helicopter subsidy scheme has been operationalised from Monday.

Launching the scheme, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said, “The Heli Service will greatly serve in ensuring uninterrupted travel, business and commercial activities in the two districts — Ukhrul and Imphal.”

The state government is committed to delivering its various welfare projects in terms of infrastructure development, connectivity, health, and education to fulfill the goals for inclusive growth, he said. 

It will take just 35 minutes to travel from Imphal to Ukhrul and vice versa.

The Centre has also conveyed necessary approval for the operationalisation/introduction of a new Helicopter service route from Imphal to another district headquarters under the existing helicopter subsidy scheme, the CM said.

He, however, didn’t mention the name of the district headquarters.

The fare is around Rs 2,500 per trip for an individual.

The Centre has given a subsidy of 75 per cent and 25 per cent for the state government employees, the CM added.
