Guwahati: The Assam Rifles deployed in Manipur has nabbed five cadres of proscribed extremist outfits in less than 48 hours from the strife-torn state’s Tengnoupal district bordering Myanmar.

Based on specific intelligence input regarding movement of militants along the Indo-Myanmar international border, troops of the paramilitary force on Thursday (September 12, 2024) launched an operation in Tengnoupal district’s border pillar (BP) number 86, the Assam Rifles said in a press statement on Saturday evening.

During the operation, an ambush party of the Assam Rifles noticed the movement of a group of people in a forested area of BP number 86. On being asked to stop, the individuals tried to flee from the spot, it added.
