Manipur: Alleged drug addict found dead in Churachandpur

Imphal: A man in his 25 to 30s died under mysterious circumstances at the Veng ground of B Phaicham village of Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Saturday.

The body was found on the ground with a syringe nearby the body indicating that he injected an intoxicant, a report said.

The report said the deceased might a drug addict and have died due to a drug overdose.

He wore only short pants and a syringe and a can of beer was found near the dead body.

Meanwhile, police rushed to the spot and the body was lifted to the Chruachandpur district hospital for further legal proceedings.

As the identity of the dead body is yet to be ascertained, police sought the cooperation of the general masses in identifying the body at the earliest.

It is herewith worth mentioning that the use of intoxicating substances in this sensitive border is a cause of concern for the state government, as over 1.5 lakh drug addicts are there in Manipur as stated by the chief minister N Biren Singh earlier.
