Manipur: 2,160 smuggled liquor bottles worth Rs. 3,24,000 seized
Imphal: Vigilant troops of the Assam Rifles in its anti-smuggling drive recovered a total of 2,160 bottles of IML Gold Liquor bottles valued at approximately Rs. 3,24,000 in the regional market, a defence wing statement said on Saturday.
This confiscation of smuggling items is the first major incident of this year.
Acting on specific intelligence, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), the para-military troopers launched a search operation in the general area of Wamku village in Manipur’s Chandel District on Friday.
During the meticulous search, an abandoned Yodha vehicle was discovered approximately 100 meters towards Charlong village from Wamku Junction.
Upon thoroughly searching the vehicle 2,160 bottles of IML Gold Liquor valued at approximately Rs. 3,24,000 were recovered.
However, no responsible person(s)/smuggler(s) in this connection has been apprehended.
The recovered items along with the vehicle have been handed over to Tengnoupal Police Station for further investigations.
