Manipur: 13-year-old girl electrocuted near Loktak Lake

Imphal:  A 13-year-old female student was electrocuted after she accidentally stepped on a live electric wire that passed with a mango tree grown in the backyard of her house located at Thanga Samukhong near the Loktak Lake in Manipur.

The incident occurred at around 5 pm on Wednesday when Ngathem Princess, (13) a class 9 standard student, mistakenly came in contact with a live electric wire that was passing through the mango tree.

She was trying to pluck a mango dangling on the branches of the tree planted in the back yard of her house located under the Keibul Lamjao Police station in Bishnupur district of Manipur, hospital sources said on Thursday.

Ng Princess, daughter of Ng Kiran was immediately rushed to the nearby health center and later shifted to the Community Health Centre, Moirang where doctors attending to her stated that she was dead.

She suffered burns on her chest, hands, and stomach.

Police said that a case has been registered in this connection.
