As per the terms of the agreement, police have to arrest the killer of Soibam Saratkumar by June 24, 2024, to provide ex-gratia payment and a Government job to one of the next of kin of the deceased and to conduct the autopsy of the slain man and perform his last rites.

Ningshen Worngam, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Manipur police, and Kh Sasikanta Singh, convenor of the JAC settled in the presence of the District Commissioner of Jiribam on Sunday night.

Additionally, the agreement came into force when the JAC served an ultimatum to the state Chief Minister N Biren Singh, stating that one Gousanga, a Kuki Tribal, had slid the throat of S Saratkumar to death on June 6, 2024.

Saratkumar, a farmer by profession was abducted from Khasia Punji in Jiribam district while he was returning from his farm at Leishabithol of the same district.

He was found dead at a hill near Mulargoan during a search operation.

Following the killing, widespread violence erupted in the district, in which around 100 houses and four government offices were reduced to cinders when the miscreants were set on fire.

In this connection, the Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh is scheduled to make an inspection visit at the Jiribam district headquarters on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, high police officials said that efforts are on to arrest  Gousanga, the Kuki Tribal at the stipulated time.

In the meantime, the body of the killed farmer was handed over to the relatives for its last rites after post-mortem at the Silchar Medical College, Assam on Monday.

Since June 6 the body of the killed farmer was lying at the district hospital, Jiribam, the report added.
