Heavy to very heavy rainfall to lash Assam, Arunachal, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura

Guwahati: Bringing respite to the recent heat, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall for several parts of the north-eastern region till May 6.

The IMD also said that heat waves to severe heat wave alerts have been issued in several states of India.

The weather department has said that Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on May 5 and 6.

Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.5–204.4 mm) on May 5.

The IMD took to ‘X’ and wrote “Heat wave conditions likely to continue over East India till 05th and over south Peninsular India till 06th May and abate thereafter.”

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall spell accompanied with thunderstorms and gusty winds very likely over Northeast India on 05th& 06th May,” it added.
