Gauhati High Court’s Mizoram bench comes up with creche for working mothers
Guwahati: The Mizoram bench of Gauhati High Court has started a creche in the court building premises in order to support the working mothers.
The decision to start the creche comes considering the difficulties faced by the working mothers in giving due care to their children while at work.
The main objective behind the move is to support women’s development and aligns with the ‘Sustainable Development Goal 8’ that promotes decent work and economic growth.
Another objective is to provide a safe and secure environment for nutritional, health and cognitive development of the children.
It also aims to enable more mothers to take up gainful employment.

The creche facility is provided to all mothers, irrespective of their employment status, and focuses on children of six months to six years.
The creche will provide morning snacks, lunch and evening snacks, having adequate nutritional value, to the children.
Growth monitoring, immunisation, health check-ups and all other facilities are the other services to be provided in the creche.
Other services include day care facilities, early stimulation for children below three years, and pre-school education for three to six-year-old children.
