Four killed and two injured in a road accident in Manipur
Imphal: Four individuals including three minors lost their lives and two other minors were injured when the van they were travelling met an accident on the road at Maichou village in Manipur’s Ukhrul district on Sunday afternoon, officials said on Monday.
The van, red in colour, driven by a 35-year-old tribal driver namely Mingu, plunged into a 50-foot gorge at around 4 pm on Sunday leaving the driver and three minors dead on the spot.
The van was travelling with five minors.
Two other minors who sustained injuries with fractures on their legs are at present given treatments at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal.
The deceased persons are identified as Mingu, 35, the driver of the vehicle, and the minors are Sakharung, 11, Lichaingam, 12, and Yarasing, 9, all the residents of Ukhurl district.
Police said a case has been registered in this regard and investigations are started.
