Naharlagun: In a coordinated effort, Arunachal Pradesh police and Assam police apprehended an escaped jail inmate in Naharlagun.

The fugitive, identified as Isahan Deori, also known as Patal, is a habitual offender previously arrested by the police in Lakhimpur district of Assam under Section 303(2) of the Indian Judicial Code.

Deori had been evading capture in Naharlagun since his escape from jail.

Upon receiving a requisition from the Assam police, a police team led by Naharlagun police station officer-in-charge K Dev and Lakhimpur police station sub-inspector HJ Lahon initiated a search operation to trace the escaped inmate.

The joint police team successfully apprehended Deori in the Demsite area of Naharlagun after an extended pursuit.

Following his capture, the police completed the necessary legal formalities before transferring Deori to the custody of the Assam police.

In a statement, Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or unfamiliar persons in the area to the police promptly.
