Cyclone Hamoon: IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam & Meghalaya
GUWAHATI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in the Northeast states of Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya over the next few days.
The Northeast states of Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya are likely to experience heavy rainfall under the impact of severe cyclonic storm – Hamoon – on Tuesday (October 24).
IMD informed that the severe cyclonic storm Hamoon intensified into VSCS about 290 km east of Paradip (Odisha), 270 km southeast of Digha (West Bengal), 230 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh).
Light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy rainfall over Mizoram and heavy to very rainfall over Tripura is likely on October 24.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over the same region on October 25.
Rainfall intensity will decrease on October 26 with light to moderate rainfall at a few places over the region.
Light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places over south Assam and eastern Meghalaya on October 24 and 25 with isolated heavy rainfall over south Assam.
