Assam’s Karimganj submerged as Longai River causes massive erosion
Guwahati: With Cyclone Remal causing massive destruction across Assam, Karimganj district is one of the worst affected with more than 80 meters of land washed away in the river.
According to reports, the rising water level of the Longai River in Changjurirpar village of the Baraigram area of Karimganj district has been a major concern.
Longai River Dam has also broken in the Patharkandi Bazarghat area, followed by the Anipur Singla River Dam burst as well.
The residents of the district are in dire straits with little assistance from the district administration till now.
There are reports that a school has also been washed away due to the present floods in the Karimganj district.
Moreover, many villages are inundated in the Ratabari assembly constituency by floodwaters of the Singla River.
Residents of the area are being moved from their homes after water entered many houses and made them homeless.
