Assam: UPPL member sleeps on stacks of Rs 500 notes, viral picture courts controversy
Guwahati: As the Lok Sabha Elections in the country near, a viral photo of a prominent United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) member from the Bodoland Territorial Region’s (BTR) region sleeping on Rs. 500 notes has created a major controversy.
The person seen sleeping on piles of Rs. 500 notes is Benjamin Basumatary of the BTR region and is a prominent UPPL member.
The image which has been circulated in social media has gone viral and there are many questions raised about the money shown in the image.
UPPL is in alliance with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam.
Basumatary, who is presently serving as the Village Council Development Committee (VCDC) chairman in Bhairaguri, Udalguri district, has now got to answer a lot of questions after this controversial image has surfaced in social media.
There has been no comment from any member of UPPL till now regarding the issue.
